We are well into the summer running time. It was nice to see some of you at the MRC day
camp in Jordan. There was a good amount
of fun was had and some good information was given by some very knowledgeable
coaches from other teams.
As we get closer to warmer weather, I would suggest paying
attention to the weather as it will be warmer earlier and you might have to
plan accordingly. This might mean
running earlier or later depending on what you can do. This means that you need to take safety into
account when running. First stay
hydrated by drinking water. A few other things to consider if you are running
near dawn or dusk, wear bright clothing reflective clothing this will make you visible
to traffic. Assume that traffic does not see you and slow
down for them. Take the motherly advice
and look both ways before crossing the street.
Let other know where you are going to run before you go and do not
change course. Do not plug in, run without
earphones so that you can HEAR your surroundings. What also helps is running in groups. I know that there are groups that do meet at
the school. During this middle of the
summer stretch, it is important to get together and work through the difficult
times. This will pay off during the
season.
