Where to find quality running shoes?

The single most important piece of equipment for a cross-country runner is the running shoe.  There is a difference between the shoes you buy at kohls and the shoes at a legitimate running store.  A running store will offer discounts to cross-country athletes.  The staff at these stores will put you in the best shoe for you not just the most colorful or expensive.  The following is a list of some quality running stores in our area in the order I like them.

RVR (River Valley Running)- owned and operated by Kurt Keiser of Jordan an accomplished runner and knowledgable shoe peddler.  There are two locations.

1849 Adams Street                      1272 Vierling Drive East
Mankato, MN                              Shakopee, MN
507.386.4609                              952.681.2058

TCRC (Twin Cities Running Company)- A well established store with quality products and employees.

6405 City W Pkwy B
Eden Prairie, MN 55344
(952) 944-7386
Mill City Running- Owned and operated by husband wife running duo from nearby Lakeville. Its down town but worth the effort to get there. They are incredibly knowledgable and helpful.

411 E. Hennepin Avenue
Minneapolis, MN 55414
612-378-6001

RUNMN- I haven't been to this store yet but I know the owner Kelly Mortenson.  He is offering some great deals on quality shoes and spikes and a discount on apparel for high school athletes.  Located just off County 42 in Burnsville.

14240 Plymouth Avenue
Burnsville, MN 55337
952.892.7386

Tis the Season (Well not yet)

The summer has gone by fast.
Coach Schroeder has been trying to visit more states than miles he has run.  There is just something different about Coach Pederson. Coach Jamison should look like Han’s and Fran’s for as much time she as spent in the weight room. Coach Fahey has been finding new hiding places at the Ney Center to attack any runner.

In just 2 weeks, we will start the season.  A few things that you need to be made aware of, first the Fall eligibility meeting is August 7 at 6:00pm in the South Gym.  After that, we will meet and discuss the upcoming season.  You will need to get as much of the required paperwork done as possible by this date.  If you are a 7th grader or 10th grader you will need a current physical.  This also applies to those in any grade if you have not had one before.
It does need to get done to participate.
Here is the site: http://belleplaineactivities.registryinsight.com/

Second, the season starts on August 14 at 8am we will meet in the High School Commons Area.  The schedule for practices and meets is on our Google Calendar if you work make sure you get that information to your bosses.
Make sure that you start running if you have not it will help those first days of practice.
See you soon.
