Summer Running Kick Off

Hunter Schmidt has graciously volunteered to host this years summer running kick off at his house, 1010 park lane, on Saturday 5/12/18 night.  Summer running mileage begins to count on May 13th this year since the first day of practice is August 13.  Our goal as a team is to collectively run 9000 miles over the summer.  Last season we came very close to that number running over 7000 miles as a team.  We encourage 6th graders going to be 7th graders and 7th graders going to be 8th graders to cover 150 miles over the summer (see mileage club tab at the top of this blogspot).  Likewise we encourage those entering the 9th grade to cover 200 miles and the high schoolers to log 300 miles.  Summer miles include all running miles, biking miles at a ratio of 3 biking =1 mile running and school weight room sessions = 1 or 2 miles.

Hunter says bring your swimsuit as his pool may be open a towel and chair may also come in handy.  A snack might be in order since you will be enjoying some time around the fire pit until the running time.  Maybe a flashlight might come in handy.  Meet at Hunter's around 10 pm.  Have a safe and fun time.  It is exciting to see so much enthusiasm this long before the season even starts, but it takes a little more to be a champion.

Week 12

Wow!  What an exciting State Meet.  The girls 11th place finish was an improvement of two places from last year.  Drew (33rd) and Kyle (84) capped off outstanding seasons competing at the state meet, the first time in 36 years a boy from Belle Plaine has competed in the state meet.  Cassie Stolt led the way for the girls with a new PR followed by Lizzy Schmidt who improved her time from last years state meet by over 1:30.  The trio of Malina Koepp, Jordyn Williams, and McKenna Herrmann, rounded out the scoring for the girls.  It was a brand new experience having to transition to the boys race with Drew and Kyle running but what a great experience.  The state meet was a great experience, one we would like to have again next season.

End of the season pot luck will be held in the high school lunch room Friday November 10th starting at 5:30 pm.  Everyone is welcome to attend and help us celebrate another incredible BPXC season.

Please return your cleaned uniforms as soon as possible.

Check your school emails for end of the season voting and end of season survey.
