Warm up Fitting

The BPXC parents club will be at school after Thursday's afternoon practice to fit our kids for warm-ups. They worked out an amazing discount for us coaches please see the discount at the very bottom of the email. Please post the following information (minus the coach's discount) on to our blog spot and text it out. I will post it on the instagram and FB sites:

The Parent's Club is working on getting warm-ups for the team. This is entirely optional, not required as at this time we don't have the funds to pay for the warm-ups so this is a cost to families.

The warm-up are durable, high quality waterproof/windproof jacket and pants. Max cost will be $120.  We will be at the school tomorrow at 5:00pm after practice for athletes to get fitted. We recommend the athletes have a sweatshirt/sweatpants to try under for a good fit for upcoming colder and wet meets. The online store for parents to order will be open soon so we can submit the order by Sept 7th.

Anyone is welcome to help with the fitting tomorrow at 5pm in the Commons Area of the high school.  Any questions or concerns please email, bpxcparentsclub@gmail.com

Thanks,
BPXC Parents Club

Week Two

Another fabulous week of cross-country transpired including our first race a scrimmage at Montgomery between the MRC schools.  No score was kept but our squads looked amazing and there  were many terrific times by individuals.  Emmett Geres and Abby Mickus led the way for the Junior High runners while Lizzy Schmidt and Drew Hastings led their respective races.

Wednesday and Friday were incredible workouts.  Watching the kids work hard was uplifting.  It is amazing to see the level of determination the team has when it is together running a tough workout.  Thursday was the annual watermelon relay.  See the pictures below.  8 watermelons were consumed in the process and I believe everyone made it through ok.  Friday was a terrific event put on by our newly formed parent booster club "Last Blast of Summer", held at Oakcrest.  There was fun and prizes galore.  Thanks for all your support parents.  On that note, please read the following.

Week One

The first week of the 2017 season is complete and we had fun while working hard.  39 girls and 33 boys have been running, biking, swimming, strengthening, and yogaing with incredible intensity.  The coaches have been impressed with their efforts, talents, and the personality they have added to the team.  Friday was the annual triathlon with Connor Mulroy the overall winner in 35:00.  Second went to Avery Mohlin, and third was Tanner Witt.  The girls were led by McKenna Herrmann finishing in 40:40.  She was followed by Malina Koepp in 2nd and Jordyn Williams 3rd.  This year the weather was a bit damp the first conditions have been like that in recent years.  It was a great first week everyone deserves a few days of rest before we are back at it on Monday.  Below is the schedule for next week.

Monday 8/21-8am practice
                      3pm practice
Tuesday 8/22-7:30 bus leaves for Montgomery
                       9:00 races beging

Where to find quality running shoes?

The single most important piece of equipment for a cross-country runner is the running shoe.  There is a difference between the shoes you buy at kohls and the shoes at a legitimate running store.  A running store will offer discounts to cross-country athletes.  The staff at these stores will put you in the best shoe for you not just the most colorful or expensive.  The following is a list of some quality running stores in our area in the order I like them.

RVR (River Valley Running)- owned and operated by Kurt Keiser of Jordan an accomplished runner and knowledgable shoe peddler.  There are two locations.

1849 Adams Street                      1272 Vierling Drive East
Mankato, MN                              Shakopee, MN
507.386.4609                              952.681.2058

TCRC (Twin Cities Running Company)- A well established store with quality products and employees.

6405 City W Pkwy B
Eden Prairie, MN 55344
(952) 944-7386
Mill City Running- Owned and operated by husband wife running duo from nearby Lakeville. Its down town but worth the effort to get there. They are incredibly knowledgable and helpful.

411 E. Hennepin Avenue
Minneapolis, MN 55414
612-378-6001

RUNMN- I haven't been to this store yet but I know the owner Kelly Mortenson.  He is offering some great deals on quality shoes and spikes and a discount on apparel for high school athletes.  Located just off County 42 in Burnsville.

14240 Plymouth Avenue
Burnsville, MN 55337
