Half way mark

Here we are at the half way mark.  I know a few are writing their miles down on a calendar.  These are the number from those that have been reporting.  I also put what you are on pace for.  This also does not count the weight room attendance, which I plan adding at the end of the summer.  This does NOT mean that some cannot get your individual mileage goals some are well within reach of that it will take some re-dedication but what you do from here on to the start of the season is only going to help you.  NOW is the time to start if you have not already.  This year everyone is a piece to the puzzle.
For fun, I put the coaches on too.

I am sharing this image that I saw on a blog that I follow and thought that it says a great deal of information to us without a great deal of words.  The only way to connect the two circles is by hard work.  The more hard work you do and the more you get out of your comfort zone the bigger the goals can be.

Sauerkraut Days Run this Saturday

Hope to see you at the race Saturday in Henderson.  Run begins at 8:00 am.  Make sure to check in so that we know you were there.  There have been a couple wild card races announced.  Wild card races are make up races that you will have to pay registration for.  You may also run a race of your choosing to make up for any that you miss in the series.  The wild card races are the Freedom Fun Run in St. Peter on the 4th of July http://www.raceberryjam.com/freedomfunrun.html and the Lesueur Crazy Dayze 5K on July 13th.  Check the calendar for more information.

Warmer Weather

We are well into the summer running time.  It was nice to see some of you at the MRC day camp in Jordan.  There was a good amount of fun was had and some good information was given by some very knowledgeable coaches from other teams.

As we get closer to warmer weather, I would suggest paying attention to the weather as it will be warmer earlier and you might have to plan accordingly.  This might mean running earlier or later depending on what you can do.  This means that you need to take safety into account when running.  First stay hydrated by drinking water. A few other things to consider if you are running near dawn or dusk, wear bright clothing reflective clothing this will make you visible to traffic.   Assume that traffic does not see you and slow down for them.  Take the motherly advice and look both ways before crossing the street.  Let other know where you are going to run before you go and do not change course.  Do not plug in, run without earphones so that you can HEAR your surroundings.  What also helps is running in groups.  I know that there are groups that do meet at the school.  During this middle of the summer stretch, it is important to get together and work through the difficult times.  This will pay off during the season.

As we are getting close to the midway point some of you also might not be on pace any more for your mileage goal.  If this is, you do not stop running, any miles that you run in preparation for the season is going to help the team and you for the upcoming season.   Hope to see you at the Sauerkraut Days 5k this Saturday.

Summer Miles 1 month In

Here is the summer miles that have been reported thus far.  SUMMER MILES

If you are not on the list, report your miles.  If you have a zero by your name and there should not be one,  report your miles. If you have ran more miles than it shows ...........Yup you guessed it report your miles.  If you have a zero by your name and have not started running yet.......no better time to start than now.

The most difficult steps are the ones to get out the door.
The summer miles are just a piece to the puzzle to accomplish our team goals. To accomplish our team goals it will take everyone to run their summer miles.
