Girls 4 peet, Boys end a 41 year drought

The Belle Plaine Tigers took on the Minnesota River Conference and dominated across the board.  The tigers had half the individual champions at the meet.  Senior, Trinity Webb won the girls JV race, Senior, Carter Corl won the boys JV race and seventh grader Brooke McGlinchey won the JH race.  As a team the tigers won all the races but one including the exciting perfect score in the girls JV race.  (1st Webb, 2nd Sophie Mewes, 3rd Hannah Witt, 4th Thea Iverson, 5th Hailey Witt)  The boys JV nearly did the same scoring 19.  (1st Corl, 2nd Taylor Witt, 3rd Drew Hastings, 6th Nate Loegering, 7th Stephen LaJeunesse, 8th Derek May, 9th Tristan Cruz)

For the first time ever the girls varsity had 4 all conference runners on their way to the title over NYA by only 11 points.  Emily Berger finished 3rd, McKenna Herrmann 7th, Alissa Schultz 8th, and Cassie Stolt 10th.  Danika Schroeder, Jordyn Williams, and Rebecca Brueggemeier where the others helping to defend and bring home their 4th consecutive Minnesota River Conference Championship.

Fourty one year!  Bell bottoms where in the last time the boys won the conference in 1974.  2015 marked the 4th MRC championship for the boys that won the first two meets in 1971 and 1972.  The boys had 4 all conference runners as well.  Kellen Bergs 4th, Kyle Siemon 6th, Dylan Bigaouette 7th, and Sam Gregory 10th.  Elliot Rudd, Ben Hunsader and Jack Otto where the other members of this years historic team.  Turns out there is some other interesting history Kyle Siemon's dad Mark was a member of the first and second conference championship teams and he was a sophomore as is Kyle when he first one an MRC championship.  What a cool thing to have in common with your dad.

The Junior Highers were not going to be left out as they competed against the best the conference has to offer.  The girls won with McGlinchey 1st, Greta Steinhagen 2nd, Erin West 6th, Kate Szaroletta 7th, and Savana DeYoung 8th.  On the boys side Josh Gregory led as he has all year in 7th place.  Aiden Fogarty 16th and Max Russo 17th were next followed by Cade Morrison 23rd, Alec Haege 25th, Conor Mulroy 29th, Teddy Sellnow 32nd, Calvin Hartman 36th, and Jackson Mewes 40th.

It was an incredible showing on a beautiful day there were many fine performance.  For complete results click here.
