Mankato West

The Tigers had an incredible day at the Mankato West meet Tuesday.  17 kids ran PR's on a flat fast course.  The kids have been working hard in practice and just ate up the course at Minneopa after seeing a few more difficult courses the previous weeks.

The junior high girls led off with a 2nd place showing.   Rebecca Brueggemeier led the junior high girls with a 4th place finish followed by a fast finishing Brooke McGlinchey in 7th place.  Greta Steinhagen was close behind in 9th place she was followed closely by Erin West 11th and Fern Sullivan 12th.  Savanna Deyoung finished just after in 13th place with Kate Szarolleta 14th.  All the girls had a terrific race over the 2400 meter course.  They are showing great improvement so far.

The boys junior high had a great showing as well finishing in 6th place.  The work they have been doing is starting to show up in a big way on the course.  Josh Gregory continues to lead the boys junior high he ran to a 25th place finish.  Aiden Fogarty 37th and Tanner Witt 38th were close behind with Max Russo 39th and Jacob Olson 40th on their tail.  Alec Haege 41st and Cade Morrison 42nd were just behind completing the squad.

The girls JV squad had an outstanding day finishing 3rd led by Emily Berger who finished 1st in the race with a time of 21:29.  Seventh grader Jordyn Willmans covered the 5000 meters for the first time in a time of 24:06 in 11th place.  Hot on her tail was senior homecoming queen Trinity Webb in 24:11 placing12th.  Hailey Witt ran a terrific race finishing in 25:06 with Jamie Zahn right behind in an equally quality run at 25:08.  Kailey Noll ran an impressive 26:51 and Alexa Lenz ran a season best 28:27.  The JV squad had an exceptional day competing against quality big school opponents.

The JV boys squad continued their amazing season finishing in 4th place just ahead of Mankato East.  Leading the way for the JV boys was Ben Hunsader in 9th place followed closely by Carter Corl 11th.  Taylor Witt finished 16th with Nate Loegering close behind in 27th.  Derek May 29th, Stephen LaJeunesse 30th, and Luke Hallgren 31st rushed in to finish off the top 7.  Ethan Keohavang, Tristan Cruz, and Tony Szarolleta came across the line next for the JV boys in terrific times.  Next was Noah Hastings, Hayden Cody and Hunter Schmidt all of whom have been steadily improving this season.  Having great races Braydon Setterquist, Clay Sauter, and Noah Steimke finished next.  Derek Guscette and Alex Meger had nice races they where followed by a trio of fast finishers, Tommy Sullivan, Blake Rucks and Jaron Funk.  Having great races and rounding out the squad were Jace Schoon, John Morrison, and Bryce Nelson.  It is incredible watching 28 boys competing in the JV race and to see their hard work in practice paying off on the race course.

The girls varsity finished in 7th ahead of big school Albert Lee.  Alissa Schultz led the way with a 17th place finish with McKenna Herrmann close behind in 20th.  Danika Schroeder and Cassie Stolt were next to finish in 34th and 37th places.  Sophie Mewes 45th, Hannah Witt 49th and Thea Iverson 59th had terrific races rounding out the squad.  The girls ran incredible times providing evidence the work they have been putting in every day.

The boys varsity placed 5th against some very good larger schools continuing their quest toward their goal.  Kellen Bergs led the boys with a 16th place finish followed by Kyle Siemon in 20th.  Elliot Rudd 24th and Dylan Bigaouette 30th had terrific races.  Sam Gregory rounded out the scoring in 33rd place.  Jack Otto 39th and Drew Hastings 46th had great races wrapping up a great day for the Tigers.  The boys have been working very hard and had a big pay day Tuesday.
